Old photos
So the visor broke in the Hyundai the other day and an old CD of pix came flying out at me and I just got around to looking at them tonight.
The pix are from my trip to DC w/Sally and her fam and we went to the Chesapeake Bay (I think) and "camped" for a week, Heather's birthday, and a from a road trip with Liz to see Ben on harvest and to Yellowstone.
That was a fun summer! Oh to be young and carefree again! =)
Liz and I had the hairbrained idea to go to Yellowstone and drive through all in ONE day! It was a fun but long and crazy trip.
Short post tonight, but some fun photos!

Road Trip part 2
So, Ben and I got home on Tuesday night from our trip to Memphis, TN.
We had a good time, but we have jointly decided that we are getting to old for road trips and for such long days of driving in a row! :)
I have included some photos of our trip.
We left Friday night, drove to Tulsa, got a room on Hotwire at a fancy hotel (according to Ben) and then left by about 9am on Sat. We drove the rest of the way and checked into a hotel in Memphis area.
Sat we went to a Brazilian BBQ place where they slice meat for you off of a stick, it was AMAZING and so much food! I Don't think that I have eaten that much beef in a long long long time!
We did a bit of sight seeing on sat night, but not alot. On Sunday we slept in a bit, then went to the Peabody hotel to watch the duck march (you should look it up on their website its pretty cool), had coffee and met some new people. We had lunch @ Cracker Barrel, drove by Elvis' house, went to an evening church service and had some Popeye's for supper! =)
We headed home on Tuesday, and I got to eat my chipotle again on the way home and got some extras to take home!
For a last minute trip it was alot of fun. I am looking forward to the beach trip to FL in January and to seeing the Taylor side of the family.
Now, I work for the next five nights and have yet to have decorated, opened boxes from online shopping or wrapped presents. Tomorrow I hope to buy a sm tree to use as last min decorating and get my presents opened and wrapped so that I can ship them in time for some cute kiddos in my fam!
I'm thankful for an adventurous hubby, for a job that enables us to take last minute trips and for spread out family so that I can take trips to go and see them all!

Road trip part one
So ben and i r headed out tonight to memphis tn area!
We left bout 7pm snd currently just crossef over into oklahoma! Havent been thru ok in a few years...i dont think since my road trip with andrea.
That was a fun trip full of crazy music, lots of laughter, crazy sherrifs in tx, ending up in tx on accident, and nearly running out if gas!
Good times! We rented a car from wichita since our two cars have seen better dias. While ben was getting the rental I quickly drove to chipotle. Now im sitting in the car in a food coma but Im happy!
So this week I had a training in dc. I managed to almost break a toilet, take a table down and accidentally point out to my group that our teacher was cross eyed
Needless to say Im now TNCC certified and glad this week is over. I sure hope I have a good weekend with hubby!

Broken toilets
Well I have decided that I am only going to post every so many days as my days have been so busy and not alot going on.
This week im on days for several different trainings. Then ben and I r going on a quick trip this weekend! Im so looking forward to it.
So today i was at a training in dodge and had to use the restroom and after I did the toilet wouldnt flush! And the bathroom was in the back of the room in which we were training in! Then the instructor asked me a question about the toilet and i pretended like i didnt know what she was talking about. =)
So needless to say I have been slightly embarrassed today. =)
Happy thursday!

Happy Monday
Happy Monday!
I worked all weekend, so not alot new going on here. I am still working on the rest of the compliation of recipes to put into an organizer...hopefully will have completed by the end of this week.
At the end of this week ben and I are taking off on a lil vaca, I'm excited to get away for a few days, and it will be some much needed time for us!
Today I hope on sleeping, then lunch and nail date with a good friend and work and yoga, then BED!
I am looking forward to the fact that I get to work days this week, but I am sure that my body will be all kinds of goofed up. Overall, I have adjusted to working nights much better than I thought that I would.
Lately, I have been toying with the idea of completing my NP sometime in the near future. Just gotta figure out what school, and do some more convincing on Ben's part! :)
Today I'm thankful that I get to go to bed in less than 2 hours!

Beginning of my online meal plans
So, a good friend was asking for some help w/some meal planning and I have started making some charts of what we cook frequently at home. I have the same recipes at home, but I have decided to condense them by meat type or by similar ingredients. I will enclose what I have done so far, it isn't much yet, but I am hoping over the next couple of weeks that I make some pretty decent and easy charts to reference...it makes cooking at home easier too for Ben! :)
I am excited that tonight is my last night in a 3 night stretch and then I will be days, for training purposes, for the next week, so I will have almost 7 nights in a row at home w/Ben...sure will be interesting!
I have been spending allot of time playing on Ancestry.com and I am really enjoying it. Luckily my mom and Nanni have already done allot of the leg work for me, but I am starting to dig further, so I am curious what I am going to find. I have found out that my family on my dad's mom's side has been in the US for longer than I thought. I have played on this site before, but expanded my membership to worldwide, so perhaps I will be able to find some more ancestry stuff abroad this time.
Have a nice rest of the weekend! Here are charts for "Mexican chicken in the crock pot" and spaghetti sauce in the crock pot.

Have a nice rest of the weekend! Here are charts for "Mexican chicken in the crock pot" and spaghetti sauce in the crock pot.
Mexican Chicken in the crock pot:
Put chicken in crock pot (3-4 breasts) on low, mix rotellos and taco seasoning and pour over chicken. Cook on low all day. Once cooked, pull bone out of chicken and shred w/fork.
| ||||
Chicken tacos/burritos or fajitas
|
Mexican Chicken Salad
|
Chicken Enchilada Casserole
|
Chicken, rice & black beans
|
Chicken Tortilla Soup
|
Ingredients for each meal:
| ||||
Chicken, shredded cheese, tortillas, tomatoes, lettuce, lime, salsa
|
Chicken, shredded cheese, tortillas, tomatoes, lettuce, lime, salsa, other veggies if desired, black beans
|
Chicken, shredded cheese, 8-15 tortillas, 2 cans enchilada sauce, black beans, rice
|
Chicken, shredded cheese, tortillas, enchilada sauce, black beans, rice
|
Chicken, shredded cheese, tortilla chips or stale tortillas, bell peppers, onions, lime, salsa, sour cream, chicken broth
|
Directions:
| ||||
Heat up tortillas, place sm amount chicken on center tortilla, cover chicken w/other ingredients desired and serve.
Just like tacos, but cut up bell peppers first and either put in tortilla shells raw, or cook in saute pan on med heat for about 3-5 mins w/lil amount olive oil, salt, pepper and about ¼ tsp garlic powder.
|
Place lettuce on bottom plate, layer w/rest of ingredients, finish with splash lime juice and salt if desired or salsa or salad dressing.
|
Preheat oven to 350. Place about 2TBS enchilada sauce on bottom of rectangular pan, place tortillas on bottom pan, chicken, ¼ c cheese & about 1/3 c enchilada sauce. Continue to layer like this for 3-5 layers then pour rest ench sauce over all of casserole and top w/1/2 c cheese. Cook 30 mins w/foil on and then 15 mins w/o foil.
|
This is like a burrito bowl, usually w/leftovers. Just throw it all in bowl together and heat up.
|
Great for leftovers. Place shredded chicken in pot (like pasta pot), add in 1 or 2 boxes chix broth (depending how much you wanna make), frozen onions, cut up bell peppers, black beans and rice in pot. Let heat up all way through (bout 15 to 20 mins). Put some in bowl, top w/chips, salsa, sour cream and cheese.
|
*If using canned black beans, take lid off beans, place beans in colander, rinse w/water and drain. I heat my black beans up for about 2 mins in the microwave, just about 1/3 to ½ cup (what I’ll eat) and then put rest in fridge in Tupperware or freezer in baggie **For rice, heat up rice in microwave (according to directions) then add a pinch garlic powder and salsa or rotellos if you want it to be a bit more tomato like. ***I would use whole wheat tortillas for most things, except for enchilada casserole, corn tortillas work best. You can cut the tortillas up if you need to fit in pan better.
| ||||
Spaghetti Sauce in crock pot:
Place ground beef and Italian sausage in crock pot (either frozen or fresh), take skin off of around Italian sausage before putting in crock pot, place bell pepper (bout ½ of one) and bout ¼ c frozen onion, 2 cans hunts spaghetti sauce, 1 TBS garlic powder and 1 – 2 TBS Italian seasoning. Cook on low for ½ to whole day. You might have to chop meat up in the crock pot half way through, if you don’t ,break up meat before you serve the sauce.
| ||
Spaghetti
|
Pizza
|
Mostaccoli
|
Ingredients:
| ||
Spaghetti noodles, Parmesan cheese (if desired) & sauce
|
Frozen/refrigerated pizza dough, toppings desired (peppers, cheese, onions, turkey pepperoni, etc)
|
Mostaccoli noodles (long, fat hollow noodles), shredded mozzarella cheese, low fat ricotta cheese
|
Directions:
| ||
Make noodles, add sauce J
|
Preheat oven to package, lay out pizza, add toppings and cheese and bake
|
Make noodles according to package, rinse put back in pot, add some sauce, ½ cup to 1 cup of ricotta and mozzarella cheese (depending on how much you wanna make) and eat.

Thanksgiving, prayer and patience
So yesterday I had this thankful post that i was allready to write, but I was not feeling well at all, so im gonna write it tonight.
Once years ago i heard a sermon on being thankful and that thankfulness goes hand in hand with prayer and patience. He said we are always thankful for stuff in life, but true thankfulness comes with being thankful for what God gives us, no matter what form it may come to us in. Now I totally agree with what that pastor said, when I heard the sermon I did not and I think its cuz I didnt fully understand what he was saying.
Ever since I can remember Ive always wanted and prayed for a caring husband and a life full of children and love...not too much to ask for right?!?!
Its no secret that Ben and i have been trying to conceive for a number of years and have not had much success. At the time that I heard this sermon we werent even married yet and I allready knew that we would have trouble conceiving on my end but I had figured since God knew what I wanted Id get it...little did i know what these last five years would of been like.
At the beginning or our marriage I prayed we would get prego despite our problems and truely believed that we would. After a year or so of that I realized that wasnt going to be the case so I started doctoring with almost anyone who would see me to find the answers I thought I was looking for.
About 3.5 years into our marriage I was sooo lost in life...I was no longer teaching, I was very homesick and heart broken that God had not given us a baby. I couldnt understand why other people who didnt even want kids could have ten and we couldnt even have one!
I was a mess! During all of this I was always thankful for ben and everything else I had in life, but sooooo much of me was mad, depressed and so confused as to why God let me down!
After awhile its like God smacked me in the face and said wake up crazy lady! I didnt wake up overnight it was definitely a long process but now I understand what the pastor was saying.
I have an amazing husband who is very loving and caring, I have more love in my life than I could of ever imagined and allthough I dont have my ownkids I am surrounded by kids all around me!
You see, life is a great mystery and God hears all of our prayers He just gets to them in His own time and in His own way! God has given me all that Ive asked for but in different forms.
I may sound crazy and naive, but Im tired of hurting and coveting so badly for what others have. I want to feel peace and true thanksgiving for the things God has given me in the here and the now!
I will never stop praying and hoping for us to have kids of our own, but until then I will be thankful for what I have in the now.
With all that being said, in this time of Holidays and Thanksgiving I just want to say thank you to all who are in my life. Thank you for being there with me through the last couple of years...thru the phone calls, dr appts, crazy rants, crazy hormones, etc. Thank you for loving me and being supportive thru it all.
Thank you God for the amazing hubby, friends and family I have (no matter how crazy we all make each other)...Please continue to give me (and those around me) the patience and strength to accept life as it comes in Your time and not my own. Please help me to continually grow and to be thankful for all that I have!

Benjamin...
I know that I have been greatly blessed with the husband that I have, but I have felt even more so lately!
Since I have been working nights Ben has been helping picking up the slack at home, in fact I think that he makes a better house-husband than I do a house wife! =)
Benjamin has often been helping with the cooking and cleaning and even the DISHES!
So, new plan in life...when debt is paid off and we have a house full of kiddos (if God goes along with the plan) Ben will stay home and I'll work! :)
Today, I'm thankful for a job I love, a husband who is an equal partner (most of the time!) and for being blessed with almost 5 years of marriage.

The last few days ive been sleeping alot and getting ready to work this weekend. For some reason nights r kicking my butt lately. Perhaps its that point in the adjustment period where exhaustion is sitting in...who knows.
We just booked a trip to florida and ohio...i can hardly wait!
I hope everyone has a good weekend!

John 3:16
Today is a good day...
Tonight as I was getting ready for work, I get a phone call from Ben saying stay home, I'll be there in one minute...he rushed home from work so that he could spend a few minutes with me! It made my night to get to see him before I headed to work! =)
For the last couple of years it has felt like alot of my family has been struggling with different medical conditions, types that aren't necessarily terminal rather ones that are continually a struggle that carry a heavy weight on all involved.
Today we got some good news, news that someone close to us is healthy right now and news that has lifted a "heavy" feeling off of alot of our shoulders. (I would share more, but not sure if this family member wants it public. And for now I will just keep a more generalized reference.)
I have always loved the holiday season, but I am entering into this holiday season more excited and grateful than I have been in a long time!
I know that I have said it many times over and over again, but I will say it again, I am blessed. I am so unbelievably blessed and grateful for the family and friends that God has blessed me with.
To this special someone, "For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son, that who so ever should believe in Him shall have everlasting life ~ John 3:16." I'm glad today was a good day, love you bunches!
Today, I am thankful for the little moments in life, for people who take the extra mile to make you feel special and loved, for childhood memories that may be trivial to some but mean the world to others and for family and friends!

Trip to Denver
Well I am a little delayed getting back to blogging, but I crashed last night and spent some much needed time with Benjamin! =)
Thursday night when I came home from work I found Heather Joy in my bed! She had flown into DC instead of Denver just to spend one evening with us in KS. I wish she could of spent a few days in KS, but it was nice to have her even for one extra night than before!
On Friday morning Heather and I made breakfast and ate with Ben before he had to leave for work. He left for work and around 830 am, we first attempted to head out from my house, Liz and Brandi (and Terri her co-worker) were all at my house, car packed and all ready to go by about then. We were all loaded up in the car and then realized that Heather's cell phone was in my house!
We attempted to get back into my house realizing that I had locked my keys in the house so that Ben could have keys to my car, and we did not have a hide a way key stashed anywhere around the outside of the house. So, we called Ben tried to convince him to come to the house, but he was busy working, attempted to break into the house, with no luck! So, on the flip side, my house is next to impossible to break into...well for amateurs!
So, Heather and I headed up to the farm (30 miles away) to get a house key so that she could get her cell phone! :) So, we were FINALLY on the road for Denver at about 10 am.
While driving we stopped a few times to eat, gas and use the restroom. We got to the hotel, and Teri left with a friend that picked her up for the weekend. We decided to go to 7-11 and get some snacks and then get dressed for the evening.
On Fri night we had reservations at this dueling piano place that we had been to before. It is allot of fun. You request music and there are two pianos, and now a drum set and guitars sometimes, that play their own rendition of the songs. It is a fun place to go to. Before going to the dueling piano place we went to an Irish pub for supper. It was fun, the other girls got to try some dishes with boxty (potato dish) in it.
Friday night we were back in the hotel and dead asleep by 1130 (old people)! =)
Sat we went and ate breakfast at a yummy local place that the concierge recommended (and was amazing), went shopping at a thrift store and some outlet malls in Castle Rock and went to supper at Olive Garden. The weather decided that it wanted to snow, so the drive from the outlet malls to Olive Garden was a little scary, but we safely made it and enjoyed lots and lots of delicious food. We had an amazing shrimp appetizer, pasta dishes, soup & salad and share dessert.
After Olive Garden we tracked back to the hotel, freshened up and went to a restaurant where there was a Jazz band, which was sure a fun little adventure! The "jazz" music seemed to be a mix of reggae music, jazz and some ska music. There were about 10 musicians on this tiny little stage ranging from trombone player to key board player (with 3 keyboards). Brandi and I also enjoyed some spicy but way yummy chicken wings! I was amazed that we were able to eat them after all of the food that we ate at olive garden! It was fun music to sit and listen to and to people watch.
On Sunday, we went to Chipotle for brunch, did a bit of quick shopping, got coffee and hit the road to the airport and then to KS.
Overall it was a great trip, and I had allot of fun!
This weekend I am reminded that we should make sure that we have EVERYTHING before we lock the house door (and that I should make copies of the house keys). I am also reminded that I have amazing friends and family and I am so completely blessed and thankful to have them all in my life!

WOW! Can't believe it I have 1,000 views! Thanks to all who view my blog!
I have been surprised how much I have enjoyed blogging the last couple of months, and I am hoping that next year I will look back and enjoy re-reading all that I wrote about and the last year that I had.
So, on Monday morning after I got off work, Ben made me go vote with him...which I am kind of embarrassed to say, it was my first time voting. So, I knew that I needed to go with him. I like to use the excuse that I have never voted b/c it wasn't something that was very much discussed in our household growing up since only one parent could vote...which honestly has allot to do with it.
Voting is something that is an amazing privilege that we have been given and call me narrow minded or unAmerican if you wish, but for some reason there just isn't something inside of me that has a large desire to vote. Since I don't vote, I tend to avoid political conversations or just sit and listen to what others have to say. I feel that since I don't actively vote, I don't have room to comment much on politics and I certainly don't have room to complain about anyone who is in office.
But, as an adult and as a US citizen it is my right as much as it is my duty to vote for our leaders, so I voted this week. Well, Ben and I both learned that I need to sleep next time I attempt to vote! I was a mess! I didn't have an updated drivers license, fell asleep/nodded off while voted, continually was giggling b/c of lack of sleep and because of my stupidity and who know what else went wrong! We both had some good laughs on the way home.
Sorry I didn't blog yesterday, I was working last night and got completely sidetracked and totally forgot about it.
I'm quite tired after 3 nights in a row and a really busy weekend last weekend, so I am hoping that I get some RR in this weekend! :)
Tonight, I am thankful for the strength to deal with life and all of its crazy mishaps.

60 posts and almost 1,000 views!!!
WOW...I have 60 posts and almost 1000 views!
I can't believe that my blog has been viewed that many times...perhaps allot of them are from me, not sure, but any hoot, almost 1,000, that is kind of exciting.
I have a close friend who is getting married next June, and I have had allot of fun looking up ideas on pinterest and other avenues to help her plan a fun and inexpensive wedding! If anyone has any good ideas for a kind of shabby chic/back yard wedding please send them my way!
These last couple of weeks sure have kicked my fanny. I am exhausted from working nights and trying to adjust to having a normal life still during the days off, but I am sure that will all come with time.
In the mean time, I have decided to rely on my good ole' crock pot for some help with keeping us eating at home and not eating out. So a friend at work found a website on pinterest for me that had some crock pot recipes and I tried one last night (Sunday) http://dainty-chef.com/2011/03/slow-cooker-chipotle-beef-chili.html. It was for a chipotle beef chili. The only thing that I would do diff next time is to put some of the chili/adobo sauce in the crock pot but not the chili itself or I would take the seeds out. I cut the recipe in half, so only put one chili in, but it was a little hot for us all, especially Liz. She literally coughed for a few from a few spicy bites...weeny! =)
Here is the entire website with all of the recipes on it http://www.eightbyfive.com/2012/10/30-hearty-fall-crockpot-meal-dessert.html.
Instead of posting my thankfulness on FB, I have decided to put it on here. Hope everyone has a good week.
Today, I am thankful for parents who are always there for me and support me in all I do.

Why fix what isn't broken?
Well the other day I had planned on sticking to a VERY tight budget for this grocery trip, and didn't go as planned. There were HUGE sales at Dillons, and I went way over budget cuz I stocked up on stuff...but that means that the next two trips will be very quick and cheap!
Sorry didn't blog yesterday, I slept til about 1 (after getting off work at 7am), then ran with sister and went to work at other job. Well, I stayed at other job for 4 hours, it got kinda crazy there last night. So, needless to say, I took bath when got home, ate frozen pizza, watched silly TV and went to bed!
Today, we went grocery shopping after church (Ben and I) and then came home, then Liz and I headed to Sam's club. Let me tell you I will NEVER EVER shop again at either store on a Sunday if I don't have to! The shopping trips took like 2x at least longer to shop b/c of all of the people, and we live in SW KS and not in a big town!
On top of the # of people, dumb Dillons decided that they needed to "renovate" their store this summer, which fine I get you want it to look prettier...but why in the world does that mean that you have to move EVERYTHING around in the grocery store and not just move it around, change the category of where some stuff is located to places you wouldn't even think of! I don't get it why people change things when they work perfectly FINE!
Okay enough venting...although it has been a crazy weekend, and will be a very busy week, I am happy that next weekend I will be heading to Denver with my sister and a few friends for a girls weekend! So, needed and looking forward to it! I hope everyone has a good Sunday.
Today I'm thankful for husbands who go grocery shopping with me, family suppers (in a few hours and with yummy new recipe) and that Christmas is 8 weeks away!

Cutting back...
I am usually pretty careful and planned out with my grocery shopping lists...so detailed to the point that I have an excel spreadsheet that tells me my totals before I even enter the store! =)
Well, this month I am going to see how tight I can make the grocery bill, use all that I buy every two weeks and how yummy I can make the meals while trying to do it all in the crock pot!
I have $160.00 to spend on groceries for the next 2 weeks, so tom I'll finish my lists and head to Garden City and start my shopping and let you all know how it goes.
Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Tomorrow a friend's baby turns 1, and her and I were talking tonight that we can't believe where a year has gone!
There are only 8 weeks and 4 days until 2013! Crazy!

Zoo adventures
Today a good friend and her kiddos picked me up and we went to the garden zoo...
The store at the zoo was closed for the winter so we drove thru, parked, and walked around.
We fed ducks and geese, took lots of pics with giraffes and saw lots of orher animals...andrea even got me to go into an exhibit that i usually wouldnt.
We got yummy coffee from patrick duggans in gc (fav of mine around here) and pigged out on pasta and cheesecake at napolis.
I soooo wanted to take a nap but was good and jogged/walked with a friend for bout an hour.
Today I enjoyed many simple pleasures and im very thankful for them...but still find myself feeling a bit guilty that ben worked all day while i played...

Groughy old ladies and cute babies
Today i had lunch with a friend and her adorable son and baby. While at lunch some older women were sitting near us and when baby m would get grouchy or laugh loud one of the ladies gave us a death glare. I get she was trying to eat lunch but she was talking louder than any noises coming from our table. We heard EVERYTHING she said!
We decided that when were her age were gonna be so friendly and happy to be aluve and happy when people r nice to us! =)
The wearher was so nice today...we got to take a nice long walk!
While driving around today i was rocking out to an "old school" cd and loving it! The year this cd was creates was an amazing year full of awesome road trips and fun times un college! To me the cd doesnt feel like it was created nearly ten years ago...but i was recently informed that music from ten years ago is old school! Lol.
Today im thankful for new and old friends, squealing babies and old ladies who remind me to slow down , enjoy life and to be fun and lighthearted as i get older!

Nothing like coming home to a home cooked meal...
Happy Sunday all!
Today was my last day working days for awhile, and boy oh boy was it a crazy day! I don't think that I got to stop to pee until after 12pm, but the day went by quickly which was nice. It was a good busy day that enabled me to use alot of what I have learned and do alot on my own...and I think that it went okay.
Tonight I came home to a home cooked meal from sis and bro in law and hubby...steak, kelibasa, chicken, rice and greenbeans! I felt very special and greatly appreciated the meal!
I hope that everyone had a great weekend, I am looking forward to a few days off from the hospital and spending some time with a good friend who is in town for the week.

Wednesday
Happy Wednesday all!
I am off nights for a week, and at first I was excited about it, but now that I realize that i have to wake up at 5am tom, I am thinking that is going to be allot harder now than staying up all night!
I feel like a zombie today! I worked on Monday night and then stayed at work from 830 to noonish for a training that I had and now I feel like a walking zombie today. I slept more than 12 hours, and I'm still exhausted, so I think that I'll go to bed early tonight in hopes that waking up at 5am tom won't be so hard.
Today I'm kinda in a funky mood, not sure if it is being sleepy and change of schedule or just a blah day. I have alot on my mind and I'm kinda frustrated bout a few things, but not sure how to handle it. Most of me just wants to say blah to it and not deal with it, but the other part of me wants to take control and deal with it...problem is I'm not sure quite how to deal with this one or how to take control of it.
I'm sure that all sounds kinda crazy and would be alot easier to understand if I wasn't so vague, but I have to be vague in this situation. Prayers would be nice for patience for me and for some light to be shed on this situation.
A number of friends have posted on FB about a family who gave birth to a little boy the other day named Colin who was born with anecephaly and who passed away. I did not know this family personally, but I know many people who did and I know that it has affected all of them and I can't even begin to imagine how it has affected the family involved. http://www.carryingcolin.com/ is a link to a website about the family. Prayer is an amazing gift that has been given to us, please take the time to pray for this family today!
Today I amazed at the power of prayer!

Slacker again
Sorry I've been slacking so much to blogging, I try to do it from work each night, but blogger.com won't always work on my phone or I've been to busy to do so.
Enough excuses back on track today! =)
Yesteray I got called off due to lack of pt's, so I slept fomr 8am to 5 pm and then midnight til eleven today, guess I was a bit tired! I got to enjoy supper with Ben and Ryan & Liz...steak, ribs and mashed potatoes! No complaints here!
The weather was so nice this weekend and will be almost 90 for part of this ewek and THEN jump down to the 50's....not looking fowrad to the 50's, but def can't complain b/c at least it isn't freezing weather!
Working in general has definitly changed things between Ben and I, but working nights has changed it even more. I don't mean that it has changed us in a bad way, more of a good way. Of course I miss him, but it has def made us spend more quality time together the nights/days we are together. I am nervous about being on the floor with less people as I won't be "training" as much, but kind of excited for it so we can get on a more regular schedule.
Ben has been cooking more, doing dishes and helping around the house more...but since neither one of us are home for very many waking hours these days, there haven't been alot of dishes or mess around the house! I usualy have been putting stuff in the crock pot, and we eat that for a few days.
At Sam's on Friday I picked up some Olive Garden salad dressing....although it is pretty high in fat (like most italian dressings) if used sparingly it is plenty and so delicious!
Tonight I am thankful for a helpful hubby, ribs for leftover to eat prob at 2 am and Olive garden salad dressing!

Apparently I can't do basic math anymore!
So although I have graduated from college a couple of different times, I am learning tonight/this am that it doesn't mean that I know how to add or subtract! I think that I have added and subtracted wrong at least 3 times tonight at work...thank God not for extremely important stuff and for a good co-worker who keeps catching and giggling at my mistakes! =)
I was shocked to see over 800 views tonight when I logged on, way exciting!
This weekend will be my first weekend working, and I am looking forward to it and hope that all goes well. I am excited that I get to work a few days in the next week or two so that I can get some normal sleep...but then again what is normal now. I am surprised that I have been doing okay so far on nights, well see in a few weeks when exhaustion sets in.
Today I'm thankful for sleep and 2 days off!

Hockey Game in DC, KS
Sorry didn't blog yesterday, we were without internet for most of the day for some reason.
Anyhow, last night we went to a hockey game in Dodge City, KS and it was pretty fun. Last year we went to one that had a bit more action to it, but we had some fun people sitting near us. The boys (ben and ryan) made friends with the couple next to us, and it was fun to see the 3 of them feed off of one another!
I have been to a # of hockey games, but I think that Liz has only been to a few. The boys sure were "nice" to let us know when we were using the wrong termonology...for example the puck was taken over by the other team while passing it to a team member and liz yelled "interception" which she got teased for cuz that is only in football, and I was trying to explain to liz that the cheerleaders that we saw runing around perform in between periods, but I said at half time and boy did that get them all rilled up too!
It was a fun night full of lots of banter, and way way way too much food! We had burgers at our casa before we left and mashed potatoes w/broccoli. Then we (me and ryan mainly) shared a BUCKET of popcorn, hot dog and nachos. Then somehow Ryan talked us all into going and getting mexican food after the game and of course Ryan and I were the only ones to pig out! Needless to say, I have had indigestion through this morning still!
Well now I gotta take a quick shower and head off to meet a friend.
Today I am thankful for rare fun activities in Dodge City, KS, for yummy food no matter how much indigestion I get and for friends & Fam!

My Love for the Beach
Not sure what it is, but every show or movie that I watch today seems to have the ocean in it..and it is making me homesick!
Most of you reading this know me well enough to know that I have a great love for water, especially the beach.
The beach has always been a place of peace for me and a place that is full of so many of lives wonderful memories.
Today I am feeling a bit suffocated and land locked, and in desperate need for the beach & ocean.
So, in honor of that, I am going to talk a bit more about the beach in hopes that I might not feel so homesick...
The beach is a place where I have continually found a sense of peace and amazement at your creation. If I have ever been in need of feeling God's hand in my life or needing to feel in awe of God, the beach has been where I have found it.
I have been blessed to have been to a number of different beaches in my lifetime...the Atlantic ocean during summer visits to Rhode Island, the Pacific ocean growing up in California and again the Pacific during my visits to Hawaii and the Gulf of Mexico in Florida.
I remember the Atlantic ocean as a kid, eating Del's lemonade and playing with cousins and aunts and uncles. I remember going out pretty far in the waves with mom and her promising me that I would be okay and not get knocked over b/c the waves "roll" on the east coast and don't crash as much as they do in the west, and she was right! It picked me up and put me right back down where I started.
I remember the Pacific ocean as being a staple part of my childhood and adulthood. I remember sunday visits to the beach after church and eating alot of fried chicken at those visits (thus my love for the ocean and fried chicken as I got older), boogie boarding with my dad watching us to make sure we didn't drown, eating at The Original Pizza with friends in high school and for years to come after high school, eating chocolate covered bananas and walking and talking for hours with Lisa, renting bikes with friends, going down to Venice with friends in high school while we were supposed to be at Disneyland or other places, laying in the sand for the entire day (from like 9 or 10 am on) until it was dark and having long and fun bonfires, eating good food and watching friends get tatoos...I remember going to Hawaii for the first time with Heather to visit Natalie and our crazy adventures there and all of the other times that I have gotten to go to Hawaii with groups of friends and with Ben.
I love the warmth of the sand in between my toes, the feel of the warm sun on my skin, reading a million books while on vacation lying on the beach and how bronze my skin gets as my freckles decide to pop up.
It amazes me that I have lived in KS for over 4 years now and that I have survived this long without the ocean, besides the quick visit each time I head to southern cali. HOpefully some day soon I'll get to spend more than a quick moment at the beach and rejuvenate my need for the ocean! Until then here are a few fun photos for you to enjoy!

Fri night movie night
Happy Friday!
Well, I survived my first night shift! I was pretty awake until 4am, then the time slowed down alot, but it was a good night!
Now that it is 930 at night I am def a little bit tired after only 5 hours of sleep today, so I am glad that I don't work tomorrow. :)
Sorry so short tonight gonna watch a movie with Ben, a rare occasion in this house! :)

I'm becoming a night person whether I'm ready or not!
Well whether I am ready for it or not today has come and tonight is quickly approaching. I slept in until almost 10 and I plan to take a nap, so hopefully I'll be wide awake for most of the night. Perhaps I am making a bigger deal of this than I should be, but for the last couple of years I have been the sort of person to go to bed by 9 or 10 at the latest, and staying up on a weekend night til midnight was unheard of! =) Perhaps I'm just a wimp since most of the people that I have graduated with have been pulling nights for months....hopefully tomorrow I'll say oh gosh I was making a big deal and I'll be just fine!
Going through nursing school I said multiple times that I only wanted to work as a school nurse or in a doctor's office, but I was wrong, I LOVE working at a hospital. I think that I would of been too bored at a Dr office, maybe not as bored as a school nurse. Perhaps I wouldn't like it as much if I was working at a larger hospital, but working at a smaller one where we still get to see a huge variety of stuff, I really like it.
I am hoping that I'll find a good balance of work, friends, cooking and working out soon. I keep having these big "plans" on working out and cooking, but when that day comes I seem to find an easy excuse as to why not to work out or just be too darn tired. I miss cooking, but seem to struggle to only Cook once or twice a week and we eat allot of those leftovers for a few days, or frozen pizza. Heck Ben has cooked a bit more than me lately! =)
Today, I am thankful for a good job, a hubby who is more than willing to help pick up the slack, good friends and fam, microwaveable food and for dark bedrooms that make it easy to sleep in!
